Atelier Olmo designed this house in the Alentejo so that not one olive tree had to move. We filmed it for their new website the way the owners live in it: the oak chair first, then the long table, then the grove through the kitchen glass.

The trees were there first

Atelier Olmo were asked for a house on a hill of eighty-year-old olive trees. They drew it so that not one tree had to move, and the kitchen window frames the oldest of them.

Filmed as it is lived in

For the studio’s new website we filmed over two days with the owners at home. We started small, on the oak chair the architects designed for the house, then moved out to the long table and the grove behind the glass. Nothing was moved for the camera.

“It is the first film of our work that shows the trees before the house.”

The film opens the studio’s project page. The house has since been visited by two magazines and one tree surgeon.
