2025

Tinta publishes long novels in small editions. Their winter list needed a film with no covers and no quotes, so we made one about reading itself: an armchair by the library window, a cup of tea poured at the start, and still full when the light goes.

No covers, no quotes

Tinta publishes long novels in editions of two thousand. Their winter list had six titles and one rule for us: no covers, no review quotes, nothing that looks like an advert for a book.

A chapter in real light

We filmed in a private library in Sintra across one afternoon and let the window set the schedule. The tea is poured in the first shot and is still full in the last, which is the whole film.

“Everyone who has stayed up reading knows that cup.”

Joana Prates, publisher at Tinta Editions

On the winter table

The film ran on a loop in bookshops beside the winter table. Four of the six titles went to a second printing by February.
