The room after midnight
Quay Rooms is a twelve-room hotel in a converted harbour office, and its ground-floor café stays open until the last guest is back. The hotel wanted a film about that hour rather than about the rooms.
Ten minutes, one take each
We filmed on a Tuesday after close, in the order things really happen: the counter wiped, the last pot steaming, the lamps left on for whoever is still out. The wide shot is from the quay, through a window that fogs up in winter.
Where it lives
The film plays in the lift and on the hotel’s booking page. Guests mention the lamps in their reviews more often than the beds.
